The next step in learning how to climb, this course is for climbers who already have a basic understanding of belaying, knots, anchor systems, climbing movement, lowering and rappelling, etc. You have climbed before and are familiar with top roping on moderate to intermediate grade routes (5.6 to 5.8). You’re now ready to focus on more specific climbing movements on a variety of climbs where a broad range of more challenging techniques are encountered: the subtleties of edging and smearing for face climbing and slabs, jamming hands and feet, crimping, liebacking, roofs, etc. Personalized coaching will allow you to progress to the limit of your ability.
This class can also include an introduction to anchoring fundamentals, setting your own top-rope, clipping and unclipping the rope, intro to mock-leading, basic placement and removal of nuts and camming devices, and can be done on a single or multi-pitch climb setting, all depending on your needs and goals.
